PRE / POST NATAL TRAINER OF THE YEAR 2023

SCOTLAND’S OFFICIAL HEALTH & FITNESS AWARDS

Want to exercise safely whilst bonding with your baby, relaxing and meeting other mums?

YOU’VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE…

"The proudest moment of my life was the birth of my identical twin boys. Carrying twins was challenging, both physically and mentally. Following my C-Section, I had to undergo two additional abdominal surgeries. It was during this time that I felt truly isolated in my recovery due to a lack of pre and post-natal focused exercise options available. This experience ultimately led me to pursue this training.

Before pregnancy, I led a very active lifestyle, including completing a marathon and pursuing a physically demanding career as a professional dancer, choreographer and dance teacher. Coping with severe Diastasis Recti after pregnancy was incredibly tough and debilitating. After undergoing a full muscle repair, I embarked on a lengthy and painful recovery journey.

I decided to transform a negative situation into a positive one by focusing on helping other women during their postnatal phases.

This path led me on an amazing journey that eventually led to honour of being named the Pre/Post Natal Trainer of the Year at the Scottish Health & Fitness Awards.

Why am I offering these classes?

“I couldn’t remember what it felt like to not have pain when I started your classes. You gave me the foundations for my recovery!”

  • "My daughter and I love postnatal yoga with Katie. There are lots of lights and sensory toys to entertain the babies but the majority of the yoga poses incorporate baby making it a fun experience for both. We were due to start yogabellies when my daughter was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and needed to wear a harness 23 hours a day. I wasn't sure if we'd be able to take part but I contacted Katie who was very helpful and happy to adapt exercises for Willow. For any yoga she couldn't do the lights and sensory play items kept her entertained. The postnatal yoga class is great for both mum and baby as you are actually getting to do exercises for yourself but in a more fun way to keep baby engaged."

  • "I have recently completed my first block of yoga for mum and babies. I wanted to do this class as a way to reintroduce exercise after the birth of my third son via C section.l It's been a great class! Katie has been extremely welcoming, very informative and engaging through the sessions. The class has a very calm atmosphere where no one minds if babyt is fussing or you can't quite manage the yoga pose. It's given me the opportunity to meet other new mums. However, mostly it's given me a slice of calm each week to destress and spend some quality time with my boy - whilst regaining some of that lose core strength! I look forward to rejoining after the summer."

  • "Milly and I absolutely loved Katie's mum and baby yoga! Everty week we both felt so relaxed...with one of us usually falling asleep within 5 minutes of the class starting. Katie is amazing, full of knowledge and happy to adjust the class to suit the mums...always asking if there were any particular areas we wanted to focus on during the session. The sessions were also great for meeting and chatting to other mums, which as a new mum is so important and invaluable. I would hrecommend mum and baby yoga to any new mum."

  • "We absolutely loved your class. What you're doing is amazing and is something that is needed."

  • “I have really enjoyed Katie’s Yogabellies class for Mum & Baby. Learning yoga to benefit me and my baby has been great, however this is only possible due to the lovely atmosphere that Katie creates. The class is very chilled and relaxed and this is very much down to Katie and her warm presentation style. As a first time mum going to classes, you are worried about your baby being unsettled and causing a disruption. However, Katie is very understanding and very supportive of the needs of you and your baby and doesn’t make you feel bad if your baby is unsettled. For me, this really helps me get the most out of the class and spend some quality time with my baby. Thanks Katie x”

  • "I would 100% recommend yogabellies with Katie. Relaxation and multiple Benefits such as aiding your mental and psychical well being are achieved for both mum and baby. I always come out of Katie’s class feeling refreshed & rejuvenated. Your little ones will get plenty interaction with the option to hold them while doing different yoga positions and with songs stretches and movement that focus on them . It’s lovely to have a catch up with all the other mums every week at the end of each session with a cup of tea/coffee and some fruit or a biscuit. As an instructor Katie truly cares about her clients and is very passionate about her work.

Ever worried about going to something new…didn’t fancy going to a baby class because you were worried your little one might be unsettled?

Find out why you would never have apologise for being late for my class! Also why a crying baby certainly wouldn’t phase me!

I tell all, about my surgeries following my C-Section and why I had to go under the knife for a full muscle repair.

Who are these classes for?

  • At YogaBellies for Mum and Baby, we don’t “put baby in the corner” while you practice yoga. Our exclusive post natal classes incorporate baby yoga postures for your little one too so that they can practice with mum! As every aspect of your life will include baby now, we help you integrate baby into your yoga practice, while feeling the benefits of yoga for you too. You will also learn breath awareness and relaxation techniques, which help to increase energy levels and allow you to relax while with baby - yes it is possible!

Our unique YogaBellies for Mum & Baby sessions incorporate traditional yoga postures adapted for postpartum mum and some for baby too. While most post natal yoga classes either focus solely on mum (with baby stuck in their buggy) or offer baby yoga alone (with no physical benefits for mum), YogaBellies for Mum & Baby combine BOTH postnatal and baby yoga, to ensure both mum and baby leave the class feeling stretched, revived and relaxed. We use unique YogaBellies® baby touch therapies as well as beautiful songs, games and positive life building experiences for your baby teamed with core rebuilding and relaxation for mum. Baby yoga has also been scientifically proven to help with baby’s brain development, growth, self soothing and common ailments such as colic, reflux and disrupted sleep. So if you have a baby, this yoga class is for you.

  • Focuses on rebuilding the abdominal muscles and the pelvic floor.

Helps alleviate back and neck pain.

Allows mum to regain strength and muscle tone at her own pace.

Studies show decreased incidence of postnatal depression.

Encourages mum and baby bonding and makes for baby’s enhanced social skills in the future.

Allows mum to heal and relax along with baby.

  • Baby is fully integrated into mums yoga practice and life.

    Enhances baby’s immune system.

Helps brain and nervous system development and growth.

Offers sensory stimulation but also enhanced relaxation leading to better sleeping patterns.

Baby learns to self soothe and develop key relaxation techniques for the future.

  • My class guidelines: It's suitable for mums who are at least 6 weeks postpartum or 8-10 weeks post C-Section, up until your baby is approximately 10 months old or begins to move around.

I'm open to some flexibility in these guidelines depending on the block dates, so if you fall slightly outside of these timeframes and are interested in joining a class block, please don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss.

Client Testimonial

“I have been going to the Yogabellies Mum & Baby class for a few weeks now and I could not recommend more highly. I’ve practiced yoga for a long time, through two pregnancies and a previous postnatal and baby class and I can say with certainty, there’s something extra special about Katie’s classes. I have been experiencing post partum abdominal pain, and through the wealth of Katie’s knowledge, I was steered in the direction of a potential cause. With a diagnosis of Diastasis Recti which I discussed with my GP, Katie has now given me a number of yoga exercises and breathing exercises which have massively helped to alleviate the pain. I certainly have further to go, but I feel so much happier knowing what is causing the pain and motivated by the quick results. It’s been wonderful to share this precious time and to introduce yoga to my daughter. It’s also great to meet other local mums. Katie’s knowlege and personal journey make her classes so much more than I expected. Her energy and enthusiasm are wonderful and we look forward to our classes each week”
